Eat a Well-Balanced Diet

The reason carrots are always touted as a food that is beneficial for your eyesight is because carrots are full of vitamin A. This vitamin is necessary for eye health, but other vitamins play a role in healthy eyesight too. Zinc, omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamins E and C are all nutrients that help your eyesight remain strong.

As you get older, it is more important than ever to eat a healthy diet to support your eyesight. Macular degeneration is a progressive disease of the eye, eventually causing blindness. The proper nutrients will help your body manage the effects caused from macular degeneration and may slow down the process.

Avoid Eye Strain When Possible

If you work all day under harsh lighting or if you sit in front of the computer screen all day, try to give yourself frequent breaks. While eye strain may not cause your eyesight to get worse, eye strain is a sign that your eyes are tired and need to relax.
